REGISTRATION FOR THE FINAL EVENTS IS NOW CLOSED. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!
Two events are held at the end of the Great Ontario Yield Tour. These events are held to bring farmers up to speed on the tour findings and to learn more about how to better their yields by providing demos on new technology, farm management practices, and agronomy.

Guest Speaker - Daniel Quinn, Purdue University
Assistant Professor and Extension Corn Specialist
Central Michigan
Main Presentation Topic
Intensive Corn Management: Why Grain Fill Duration and Kernel Weight Accumulation is Essential.
Corn yield can often be described as a function of four different yield components that are developed throughout the season: 1) plant establishment and harvest population, 2) ear size and potential kernel number, 3) actual kernel number, and 4) kernel weight. The goal of this presentation is to help provide insight on the final yield component and the importance of grain fill duration and kernel weight accumulation for maximizing corn yield potential. Furthermore, this presentation will discuss the role of various management practices, environmental conditions, and input applications that can help promote the extension of grain fill duration and kernel weight accumulation in corn.
Educational Demo Presentation Topic
Start Right to Finish Well: The Importance of Early-Season Root Development and Plant Establishment in Corn
Successful corn germination, emergence, and root establishment are essential for getting the plant off to a good start, improving stress tolerance throughout the season, and giving it a chance to maximize yield potential at the end of the year. This demonstration presentation will help provide information on the importance of rapid and uniform emergence, how the corn root system develops and where to assess and identify issues, and how successful plant establishment can be achieved.
