2026 11th Annual Great ON Yield Tour

August 10 - August 21, 2026

Welcome to the 2026 11th Annual Great On Yield Tour

Welcome everyone to the 2026 11th Annual Great ON Yield Tour. The 2026 planting season for Ontario is off to a strong start with ample moisture and good planting conditions, but it was too cold for too long. The counties of Essex and Niagara have fallen behind with reports of replanting due to too much moisture in the clay soils. Ontario is mostly drought-free and has experienced generally healthy soil moisture following a wet spring. However, a 10-day dry spell in early June has pushed some regions—particularly in northern and eastern Ontario—into temporary drying trends, increasing short-term fire risks and slightly uneven agricultural emergence. The U.S. Corn Belt drought has expanded, weather in June is critical and could see July heat that could impact corn yield during pollination. The western U.S. drought that has impacted HRW country (some are calling this “Dust Bowl 2.0”) is travelling east while the drought in the south is travelling north.

For the 2026 Ontario crop, the 2026 Farms.com Risk Management Ontario planting intentions survey is projecting more corn and soybeans and less wheat acres similar to Stats Canada. Ontario farmers intend to plant 2.99 million soybean acres in 2026, which is up by 3.6% vs. last year, according to the survey. And the corn acreage is projected to be up +4% year-on-year. The survey is projecting that Ontario farmers intend to plant 6.412 million acres of corn, soybeans and all wheat combined this year, which is up by 1.9% (or 119,148 acres) vs. 2025. Stats Canada is at 2.9 million soybeans 2.3 corn and 1.17 all wheat for a total of 6.37 million acres.

Our deepest gratitude to all the scouts, farmers, hosts and sponsors, who are always essential to making the tour a success. We also look forward to meeting and speaking with you at our popular final wrap-up events. The Eastern event will be held on August 20th at Domar Farms in Moose Creek, Ontario and the final Western Event will be on August 27th, 2026 at the Oxford AGROPRO in Hickson, Ontario.
